The annual battle for the Dave Mavroudis Memorial Shield took place on March 15th between Wagga's South City Bulls and the Dolphins.
In balmy 40 degree heat, Dolphins A Reserve were comprehensively beaten by the conditioned, trained and ready Bulls. Jason "Chief" McKell's A Grade side were determined to win the shield back this year. The game was played at a feverous pace despite the heat, and with the Dolphins scoring with two minutes remaining, we reclaimed the shield in a thrilling 18-16 victory.
After presentations, and with the hospitality of the Wagga locals who helped organise the day's events, the boys partied hard into the night. The traditional life-saving breakfast was gratefully received at the Mavroudis household (thanks again John and Colleen), after which it was all aboard the bus for the 'bonding' trip back to Sydney.
A great weekend, a great way to remember our mates, and a great day meeting friends old and new alike.
