Somebody buzzed my flat last week around 9:00pm. For a little while I thought "...that would be David from next door who 's locked himself out (again!!!?)... " It was a nice moment. I was travelling through Indonesia on that horrible day. All my friends were OK, so with little knowledge and disbelief i kept on travelling. To arrive back in Australia and find that you were gone was truly devastating. If two months ago somebody had told me that they played footy in heaven, I would have said "I rather go to hell ". Well, now I hope that you 're a good player. I 'll barrack for your team one day.

Mav, what can I say, a real Mr nice guy. always a smile on your face, nothing was a problem, as long as you had a beer in your hand! The Palace just won 't be the same without you. we need you in our touch side, we suck badly!! sadly missed by all your Wagga mates.
Tash xx
Mav,what can I say? You were one of the best. I remembered the other day the good fun Ray and Higgy and myself had with you that day in Bondi. The trip to
Broulee and the oysters that I ate. SAdly those times have been cut short. To say that you will be sadly missed doesn 't seem to cut it. Look after yourself up there and I hope they serve Bourbanii 's so that you won 't feel too lost. Take Care

Mav, couldn 't fault the young man. I lived with him for about six months but have known him since year 7. Always the quite unassuming fella, the eastern suburbs brought out the best in him. He loved the social side, relaxing and sometimes, party hard lifestyle of Coogee and Clovelly. Although working over the bridge, he wouldn 't move. This is a Mav trait. He wouldn 't change to suit the person he was talking to. Mav was Mav and was true to himself with what ever he did. He wouldn 't try and be something he wasn 't. We enjoyed sitting in the music den of Greville, "the couch ", and Mav would bring home some tabs off the net after a hard day at the office. Of course he would take 5 min to learn the whole song down pat, whilst I would chime in the chorus for a couple of bars a couple of days later when I caught up. His "Tell me when will you be mine, tell me Quando Quando Quando " was picked up from the Heineken add before Sports Tonight. Because "If it happened in sports today Paul, it 'll be on sports tonight. " He would continue the add, and point the finger at the Inside Sports, Cougar models when they showed their competitions. The last program he watched before heading to his beloved workbench, err I mean bed. But was definitely not a morning person. With squinted eyes and contorted face I was lucky to receive a grunt, but usually got the famous Mav nod. He had a nod for every occasion. The typical bachelor pad usually had the beautiful aroma of Thai from Jane 's Thai on Clovelly Road. "Could not fault it. The sweet nectars of the Gods! " Mav is a man I have so much respect for, and I hold him in great regard. He has made me want to be more like himself. And will not forget the great times that we spent together.
Langa.
If you were going anywhere and Mav was going to be there you knew you were going to have a great time. There was always a good vibe. Team him up with Michael, Rod, Higgy, Langa or Woodsy and you knew that you would end up with a side-splitting night of entertainment and sore cheeks from laughing so hard. When Michael and Mav were in good form, the remarks flying back and forth between them were lightening quick and hilarious - they played off each other perfectly and always ended up with a crowd around them. I remember Michael looking at Mav from across the dance floor recently and saying to me "He really is funnier than I am isn 't he? " I had to agree. Mav 's wit and dry sense of humour went unsurpassed (even Michael had to admit it!). His laughter is greatly missed.

A Beautiful Life – Davey was loaned to us by God for a few short years and we thank Him for that. He is my nephew, my godson and my friend. He lived a short but very happy and successful life. He loved and was loved, he was a great sportsman, enjoyed his work, and was just beginning to experience the joys of seeing the world. He had grown into a very special and worthwhile person.
We love him and will miss him always.

David lived with my husband and I for almost 6 months. He was a work college of mine, very honest and respected by all his work mates. We were fortunate enough to have called Mav out of the blue on the Tuesday before he left for Bali as we were in Sydney for the night and decided to try to catch up with him (he was always busy doing something). Our luck was in and after a few beers at the Coogee Bay Hotel we said what turned out to be our last goodbyes. I will miss him dearly and keep him close to our hearts. I will never forget the day we swapped cars and he gave me a lend of his lovely old blue car whiched he had swapped for my new magna, this turned out to be a bad swap on my part. Never mind he needed to get to Sydney for a pressing 'date '. Sadly you are gone Mav, but you will always be sitting on my bookshelf, a constant reminder of the wonderful person we came to know and love. My thoughts are with your family and friends, also your team mates. Keep safe and let’s hope the footy season in heaven is a lot shorter than down here, that way your body may not take so much punishment. Miss you heaps. RIP mate.
